Why

Carrying a child is one of the most profound physical transformations a woman can undergo in her life. The process of life creation, birth and motherhood to me is a unique experience of potential and (super) power in body and mind. And yet – pregnancy often is associated with a mindset or attitude of weakness, reduced capacities or capabilities.

Yoga can be a wonderful source to oppose this perception, to become aware of the superpowers that are set free during this time, and to use them to build consciousness and confidence around the power of breath, mental focus and physical strength & flexibility that enables this natural transformation.

How

  1. Do it daily.
  2. Do it with ease. It is not about forcing a 1 hour full body work out, while nausea is raging. It is about taking the time to connect to yourself and your little passenger – even if it is just for a few minutes of deep belly breaths, your 5-minute squat routine or a nice deep stretch of your tensing side body.
  3. Honor who you are today. Honestly ask yourself what you need today and respect the answer.
  4. Own your choices. No one knows better what is good for you. Learn about pregnancy and yoga and decide what feels good for you and what does not.

What

  • The power of breath: Breathing techniques help to increase awareness of the link between body and mind, support building a “line of communication” with your baby and massage internal organs as it gets more and more crowded in your body
  • The gifts of meditation: Learning to focus your mind will help you experiencing, how effectively your mind can support and lead you through discomfort – long before you enter into labour and birth. It helps you to take back control and install calm, when fear and anxiety are roaring. It helps you to feel your intuition and build trust on your choices.
  • The joy of agility: Carefully exploring what your body needs in every stage of pregnancy, maintaining strength and mindfully building flexibility where needed can help to ease and prevent the physical difficulties that may arise during pregnancy.
